Donating from the UK

The Life You Can Save makes smart giving simple. Our mission is to help change the culture of giving in affluent countries and increase donations to nonprofits that dramatically improve the lives of people in extreme poverty. We curate the most impactful, cost-effective charities in the world and make it easy to donate to them.

In the near future, we hope to be a registered charity in the UK. In the meantime, we have listed on this page all the donation options where you and the charity can benefit from Gift Aid.

Donate directly to a UK-registered charity

Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift to a charity—at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, the charity can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So, if you donate £100, it is worth £125 to the charity. When you donate directly to a UK-registered charity, that charity can secure the full benefit of Gift Aid.

Against Malaria Foundation

100% of donations buy long-lasting insecticidal nets that protect people from malaria. A US$2 net protects two people.

Donate via The Life You Can Save’s Prism Funds

We have partnered with UK charity Prism The Gift Fund to enable you to boost your donation through Gift Aid (minus Prism Admin Fee) when choosing to donate to The Life You Can Save’s charities or The Life You Can Save’s Operations Fund.

The Life You Can Save’s charities

Donate to The Life You Can Save’s Recommended Charities—let us direct the funds to where they are needed the most. To ensure funds are used effectively, The Life You Can Save retains the right to vary the proportional split of funds between our recommended charities.

With this option, you can claim Gift Aid and 100% of your donation (after credit card fees and Prism fees) will be used to support our recommended charities.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a simple way to increase the value of your gift—at no extra cost to you. If you pay tax in the UK, registered charities can reclaim the basic rate tax (25%) on your gift. So if you donate £100, it is worth £125 to the charity.

Corporate Partnerships and Giving

Limited companies can pay less corporation tax when they donate to a UK charity. A number of UK companies have already used The Life You Can Save UK to donate to our (non-UK) recommended charities to take advantage of this deduction. About Prism The Gift Fund

The Life You Can Save has partnered with Prism The Gift Fund to create The Life You Can Save UK (a collective fund of Prism). Prism is a UK registered charity (1099682) whose aim is to increase the flow of funds into the charitable sector from UK donors through effective administration. Prism as a registered charity is able to claim Gift Aid (25%) on our behalf and charge a small fee for their services, all of which goes into the running of their charity.

This arrangement provides The Life You Can Save with a more cost-effective model than setting up our own UK charity at this point in time. If you have any questions about The Life You Can Save UK or Prism, please contact us at admin@thelifeyoucansave.org
