Important Announcement!

Taken from a newsletter that went out to all The Life You Can Save subscribers on the 27th January 2021:

My 21 month old granddaughter Rosalee often encourages me to “lean back” by which she means lie down and relax. I plan to take her advice literally and figuratively, so after eight years as Executive Director of The Life You Can Save, I have decided to “lean back” some more and, therefore, change my role in the organization. Rickard Vikstrom, our Managing Director, has been named by the Board to become our Executive Director beginning in February. I will continue to be a Board member, a member of our new Development Board, a significant donor, and a participant in our marketing strategy and communications.

Rickard has been with The Life You Can Save for three years. He is well-equipped for his new role with 12 years of experience in the nonprofit space — much of that experience with UNICEF. Most importantly, he is well-respected and well-liked by our Team and the Board and is very much aligned with our mission and overall strategy. Rickard will be ably assisted by Stacey Black, who will move from Marketing Director to Deputy Director, a role in which she will assume broader responsibilities.

Working with Peter Singer and helping to develop The Life You Can Save has been, other than raising our two wonderful children with my amazing wife, by far the most rewarding experience of my life! I am 71 now and Diana has just retired as a family doctor, so in addition to supporting Rickard, Stacey, and the rest of the Team, my plan is to spend more time with my family, as well as walking, enjoying nature, reading, and doing some long-awaited travel in a post-Covid environment, hopefully.

I want to thank all of our supporters, and especially our Team, including our Board (Peter Singer, Neela Saldanha) for the work they do to assist our great recommended nonprofits. My hope and belief is that the impact of The Life You Can Save and Peter Singer’s ideas about our opportunity and obligation to help people living in extreme poverty will impact millions of people over the next many years.

Do Good. Feel Good.
