In the world’s poorest countries, most children reach the age of ten unable to read a simple sentence, a problem researchers call learning poverty.
On October 13, 2026, we hosted a live webinar on The Life You Can Save’s new Education Sector Report, which looks at where this learning crisis is deepest, what works to address it, and where giving can make the greatest difference. We also shared how these findings will shape our education recommendations through 2028.
Alongside the findings, leaders from all seven of our recommended education organisations spoke about how their programs help children learn to read and do basic maths, and what support makes possible right now.
