“Can we save some of the 14,790 children dying every day? The answer is: Yes, we can.”
The Berggruen Prize is a US$1-million prize awarded by the Berggruen Institute to individuals in recognition of “major achievements in advancing ideas that shape the world.” We are delighted to share that Peter will donate half of the prize to support The Life You Can Save itself!
The remaining amount will be split into two: a large portion to animal rights organisations of Singer’s choosing and the rest will be divided amongst The Life You Can Save’s charities based on a public vote that will be held later this year. All participants will also be entered into a competition for a chance to join an exclusive online discussion with Peter Singer.
Send us your email address, and we’ll notify you when you can vote. We’ll also throw in a free download of Peter Singer’s The Life You Can Save.
We make “smart giving simple” by curating a group of nonprofits that save or improve the most lives per dollar. We aim to create a world where everyone has an opportunity to build a better life and where there’s no suffering or death due to extreme poverty.
Our Co-Founder, Charlie Bresler, explains how one does not have to be brave—even during the COVID-19 pandemic—to save lives. You can save these lives, in a cost-effective way, through our recommended nonprofits. And amazingly, you can do so while social distancing and staying home!
